Self-support protocol
Disordered eating protocol harmonizing hunger-fullness teams. Restore intuitive eating through interoceptive awareness.
Dear gardener, the food garden has lost its rhythm. Sometimes there is drought — strict restriction, skipped meals. Sometimes there is a flood — overeating, night raids on the fridge. Our task is to rebuild a more stable climate for this garden.
When the weather is harsh and the soil depleted, it is not surprising that plants react sharply.
Gardener's task:
Instead of cutting off half the garden ("запрещённые продукты"), begin with лёгкое прореживание.
Some beds require professional hands.
Disordered eating encompasses irregular eating patterns and unhealthy attitudes toward food, weight, and body image that don't meet full criteria for clinical eating disorders but still cause distress and health impacts. Patterns include chronic dieting, rigid food rules, meal skipping, eating in response to emotions rather than hunger, preoccupation with weight/shape, and exercise compulsion. These behaviors involve disrupted hunger/satiety signaling, dysregulated reward systems around food, and often anxiety or mood regulation attempts through eating control. When your organism is your team, imagine disordered eating as confused communication between your hunger regulation departments (leptin, ghrelin signaling), emotional regulation teams (who may use food restriction/overeating as coping), and cognitive control systems (rigid food rules overriding natural signals). Your body's nutritional needs assessment teams send signals, but these are overridden by emotional, cognitive, or control-seeking drives. This framework supports healing: intuitive eating approaches become helping your hunger teams regain authority over eating decisions, addressing emotional triggers becomes offering your regulation departments healthier tools, and challenging rigid food rules becomes allowing your organism's natural wisdom to guide nourishment. Understanding that disordered eating often serves psychological functions (control, emotional management, identity) helps address root causes. Your organism wants balanced, peaceful nourishment; it needs support restoring trust in its natural hunger and satiety signals while developing alternative emotional regulation strategies. ⚕️ This protocol does not replace professional consultation.
