We have psoriasis—a chronic immune condition where defender cells mistakenly attack skin, causing rapid skin cell production. This creates thick, red, scaly patches (commonly on scalp, elbows, knees, lower back). Task 1: Skin Cells — you are dividing too rapidly (3-4 days instead of normal 28-30 days) due to inflammation signals. This creates thick patches with silvery scale. We are slowing this rapid growth with prescribed creams.
Task 2: Defender Cells and Defense System — you are attacking healthy skin in an autoimmune response. For mild-moderate psoriasis, we use anti-inflammatory creams. For severe disease, system-wide immune-calming medicines are deployed.
Task 3: Skin Barrier — patches are dry, cracked, and prone to new spots at injury sites. Aggressive moisturizing with thick creams (petroleum jelly, CeraVe, Eucerin) after bathing locks in hydration. This reduces scaling and itching.
Task 4: Environmental Triggers — stress, infections (strep throat), skin injury, cold/dry weather, smoking, and alcohol worsen flares. Minimize triggers: stress management, prompt treatment of infections, avoid skin trauma, humidify dry indoor air, limit alcohol, quit smoking.
