Mission: disordered eating | Image: inner altar of nourishment
Ministers, we see how the table has turned into a battlefield: restriction and overeating, guilt and promises to "start again on Monday". Our task is to return food to its sacred role — sustaining life — instead of punishment or consolation.
Ministers: inner speech, conscience.
Purpose: stop calling yourself "weak" or "broken".
Instructions: quietly name what is happening: "I have disordered eating patterns; this is how my psyche learned to cope." Place your hand on your chest and add: "I am more than my eating." This is confession, not accusation.
Ministers: body sensations, daily routine.
Purpose: honour the body with regular nourishment.
Instructions: choose 3–5 approximate meal times and treat them as small daily services. Before eating, pause for one breath and say: "This portion supports my body; it is not a test of my worth." Even if the choice is imperfect, the ritual of rhythm already heals.
Ministers: attention, imagination.
Purpose: loosen the fusion "weight = value".
Instructions: when you want to check weight or body in the mirror, stop for a moment and imagine a scale with two bowls: on one — kilograms, on the other — your qualities, relationships, acts of care. Whisper: "My value does not fit on this scale." Then decide consciously whether you really want to step on it now.
Ministers: humility, connection.
Purpose: allow yourself help instead of fighting alone.
Instructions: in a notebook or prayer, write: "I cannot and do not have to cope with this alone." List the names of people and specialists you could turn to. Even if the step is still ahead, the very act of writing breaks the isolation spell.
Blessing: let food become dialogue with the body, not a tribunal. May each meal be a small reconciliation, and each gentle choice — a brick in the foundation of a different relationship with yourself.
